Our Story

Who we are

Since its inception in 2001, Fire Safe Training Services has delivered professional fire safety courses to health care facilities, private industries, schools, colleges, hotels and a range of other businesses. We believe that well-trained staff are your best defence against fire.

With over 60 years’ experience as operational firefighters between both directors, we utilise our expertise to provide the best possible service for all of our customers. We are confident that we provide the highest standard of fire safety training requirements.

At Fire Safe Training Services, our aim is to equip you with the skills and knowledge to practice fire safety both at home and at work. Our courses will help you understand the dangers associated with fire, and give you the confidence and ability to follow proper procedures to evacuate and assist others in the event of fire.

Pat Kirby

Pat has a lifetime of experience in the Fire Safety business, having served for 32 years as a member of the Airport Police & Fire Service at Shannon International Airport, his final 10 years as Chief Fire & Police Officer. In 2002, he established Fire Safe Training Services (Ltd.) and moved into the present premises at Smithstown, Shannon, Co Clare. Pat was awarded a Senior Fire Officer Certificate by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, as well as a Breathing Apparatus Instructor’s Certificate with Lancashire County Fire Service. In November 2002, he was conferred with a Diploma in Training & Education from the National University of Ireland, Galway. He holds a Certificate in Safety Management from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, as well as a Safe Manual Handling Instructor’s Certificate.

Enda Kirby

Enda has 26 years’ experience as a firefighter. Having started his career in Ennis with Clare County Fire Service in 1993, Enda then moved to Galway City Fire Service to take up a position as a full-time fighter in 2001. Enda is a competent qualified Breathing Apparatus wearer and is also qualified in Compartment Fire Behaviour, Wildland Firefighting, Swift Water Rescue, Heights Rescue, Road Traffic Collision Extrication, Aviation Firefighting, Manual Handling and First Responder. Enda holds a certificate in Occupational Health and Safety with NISO and has also completed a QQI Level 6 Component Award in Train the Trainer course.
